In February 2013, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation launched Care About Your Care, a targeted initiative highlighting efforts to improve the transition from hospital to home and reduce unnecessary hospital readmissions. Qorvis MSLGROUP was tasked with raising the awareness of this important topic.
As part of the initiative, Qorvis MSLGROUP commissioned a report, The Revolving Door: A Report on U.S. Hospital Readmissions, featuring original Dartmouth College research about hospital readmissions, and a novel series of interviews with patients and providers about their experiences. We negotiated exclusive coverage of the focus groups and study with The Associated Press to build buzz for the campaign launch. Thea stakeholder and press even was t attended by more than 300 people and streamed live on RWJF.org to another 2,000 viewers, who were eligible for Continuing Medical Education credits as part of their participation. The resulting coverage (800+ news stories) reached more than 50 million people through newspapers, trade magazines, radio, television and online coverage, and spurred a national conversation about return trips to the hospital and successful efforts to coordinate better care for patients leaving the hospital.
